Three Things I Learnt From Not Listening to My Intuition

by Amy White

Many people believe that because I’m an Intuitive Medium, somehow, I’m able to preview every relationship. As if I can look into some mystical crystal ball and see the future, even before things begin. It just doesn’t work that way, for any of us.

A couple of years ago, I was swept off my feet by a new partner. In the beginning, I saw this relationship as a reward for learning some gut-wrenching lessons from past partnerships. Truth is, looking back, I could see red flags right away. But it felt so good. I truly felt seen, heard and loved in ways that I had never experienced before. So much so, that I was willing to ignore my intuition and follow the fantasy storyline that I was feeding myself.

Over time, it became more obvious that this partner was not as aligned with my highest good as I had hoped. I saw the signs. I could feel my intuition tugging at my soul. But there was a part of me that didn’t want to give up the dream.

Eventually, my intuition stopped tugging and started banging on my soul. I knew that I had access to this Source-connection and it wasn’t benefiting me to ignore it any longer. Once I surrendered to this knowing, I was served multiple helpings of the truth on a silver platter.

Not being able to ignore my intuition any longer, I finally made the choice to end things. It was a painful decision, but I realized that walking away from someone I still loved was one of the bravest and most loving things I could do for myself.

The gifts of this relationship were many, but the top three things that I learned were:

When someone shows you who they are, believe them

As I came to know this partner on a deeper level, I realized that there were things in his life that were out of integrity. When things are out of alignment in one part of someone’s life, they are very often out of sync in other parts as well.

Not listening to your intuition is a powerful tool for learning to trust deeper

By not listening to my intuition, Life gave me an opportunity to find the edge. It gave me a chance to learn more about the ways that Source tries to get my attention. And it allows me, now, to pay more attention, listen sooner and shift more quickly when things are out of alignment. This experience taught me to never again disregard my inner-knowing.

Stop looking for love in all the wrong places

Why was I so open to disregarding my intuition when it came to this relationship? It was because I was looking externally for the validation that I was lovable. But true love comes from the inside. I realized the importance of spending quality time learning to love myself and opening up to the magic of who I truly am, with all my curves and edges.
