‘Chakra Frequencies provides a significant new approach to creating harmony and balance within us by using the power of sound. Blending ancient sound techniques with holistic counseling approaches, the book enables readers to experience the compassion so necessary for the evolution of our consciousness in today’s world.’
Deepak Chopra

The more that sound healing begins to become known to the public, the more important it is for us to initiate an understanding in people that this is a modality of vibrational balance and alignment that anyone can do. It is not necessary to be a trained singer or musician in order to learn how to use sound for health and wellness—you don’t even need to be able to ‘carry a tune in a bucket’ in order to resonate your chakras or your physical body with your own sounds. If you’ve got a voice, you can, indeed, make sound! If you can make sound, you can experience sound as a healing modality.

Our new book Chakra Frequencies focuses on simple exercises that can be utilized to reduce stress and bring you into harmony and inner peace, as well. These sounds can also create balance in your emotional body. And yes—these sound also affect your physical body! Did you know that by making a simple self created sound such as a hum or vowel sound such as an “Oh”, that there are all sorts of positive physiological effects that occur, including: increased oxygen in the cells, lowered blood pressure and heart rate and reduced levels of stress related hormones.

There are many different neuro-chemicals that are produced when you make sound, including: increased levels of melatonin, a hormone that has been used to reduce stress, enhance sleep and shrink tumors; the release of endorphins, those wonderful, self-created opiates that work as “natural pain relievers”; increased levels of the release of nitric oxide, a molecule associated with vascular dialation and the promotion of healing and exytocin, the “trust hormone”.   These are just some of the benefits that are currently being examined by modern science—they are by no means the only such benefits. And once again, these are physiological benefits dealing with the resonance of sound on our brain and other bodily organs.

Chakra Frequencies, as noted, deals with the chakras—our energy centers which have been acknowledged and worked with by esoteric traditions for many millenia. Through learning to use sound to resonate our chakras—putting them into alignment and balance—it is possible to achieve not only physiological benefits, but also emotional, mental and spiritual ones as well. Through using Chakra Frequencies to create balance and harmony, we are able to enhance healing in our body, mind and spirit.

With regard to the sounds we teach about in our book, we have included a free hour long instructional CD that gives you aural examples of the different sounds we refer to in the exercises we describe. We’ve found that oftentimes by listening to such ‘sound bytes’, it’s really helpful for readers to resonate with and experience the sounds we refer to in Chakra Frequencies.

People often ask us how and why we wrote Chakra Frequencies. Andi is a well known psychotherapist, the creator of tele-counsel, the world’s first telephone counseling service—an operation that became the predecessor of what is now called “coaching”. Jonathan has been a pioneer in the field of sound healing for over 25 years, becoming an acknowledged master in both the science and the esoteric traditions of sound. We had been working together for nearly a decade when we decided to combine our mutual expertise to write a book that could be effectively used by anyone to experience the therapeutic and transformational effects of sound.

Through his background, Jonathan was able to apply his approach to chakras from the scientific and mystical arts. Andi was able to apply her experience in healing the emotional body to the chakras. Together, we created an extremely broadbased and effective book that can be utilized by practically anyone for a number of different purposes. It’s user friendly and easy for a beginner to understand the powerful aspect of sound as a healing modality, and for a seasoned sound healer it can be a beneficial resource.Cymatics - Reiki Chants on Water

It’s important for us to stress that this is not a book about using music for healing. While we do incorporate a chapter on certain musics we recommend for relaxation, the primary focus of our book is sound. You might ask: what is the difference?   From our perspective, especially here in the West, most people think of music as being something that’s got melody, and a number of other essential elements including rhythm and harmony. To most people, whether it’s the Beatles or Bach, that’s music. But for many, intoning an elongated vowel sound or a mantra such as “Om” may not be very musical—especially if we’re making this sound ourselves.

What’s important to understand is that the sounds we describe in Chakra Frequencies are just that—sounds—mostly elongated vowels or single syllable mantras. We are not talking about getting up in front of an audience and singing a song, whether it’s “Strangers In the Night” or “God Save the Queen”! That’s performance art, and it’s what we call entertainment. What we are talking about is using sound to change our vibrational level. Scientifically, that’s known as entrainment. Often, the most powerful entrainment sounds are single tones such as we describe in our book. We let people know right away that there’s no need to feel judged or think they can’t make sound because they’ve been told they can’t sing…we often find the ‘wounded singer’ and we’re able to give them encouragement with this analogy.

With regard to using Chakra Frequencies for healing, we’ve certainly found that often times when there is an imbalance in the energy centers of the body, there are physical repercussions that are experienced. Therefore, many times, simply by resonating our chakras with their sounds, health and harmony can be restored. Yet, the use of these self-created sounds can even go deeper than that. They can be used to help open our minds to higher levels of consciousness. They can be used to create balance and harmony, not only within ourselves, but with others as well. Chakra Frequencies is a wonderful tool for enhancing relationships.

The basic premise of sound healing is this: As our ancient mystics and our modern quantum physicists agree—everything in the universe is in a state of vibration—from the electrons moving around the nucleus of an atom to planets in distant galaxies moving around their suns. This includes our body. Every organ, bone, tissue and system has it’s own healthy resonant frequency. In fact, when we’re in a state of health, we say we’re in “sound health”. We’re like this incredible orchestra that is playing this incredible symphony—the suite of the self. But what happens if the 2nd violin player looses his sheet music. He begins to play out of tune. Soon the entire string section is off. Pretty soon the entire orchestra is playing out of tune.

This is akin to a part of our body losing its natural, healthy vibration. When this happens, that part of the body begins to vibrate out of tune and out of harmony with the rest of ourself. When this out of easeness sets in, we say that something is dis-eased. Going back to our metaphor of the body being like an orchestra, what would happen if we could somehow give the 2nd violin player back his sheet music? What would happen if we could somehow restore the correct resonance to that part of our body that was vibrating out of ease and harmony. This is the basic principle of how sound can be used to heal.

Our ultimate goal in Chakra Frequencies is to not only help you with personal healing, but to assist as well in helping to co-create planetary healing. Through reaching deeper states of consciousness and self-awareness, we begin to realize our inter-connectiveness with each other. We realize that we are indeed one, and that we can learn to develop compassion towards each other and towards this planet itself. Through this, we can ascend to our next level of evolution as a species.

Currently, we are in tumultuous times that offer great hope as well as the opposite. It’s crucial for us to develop love and compassion towards each other. From our perspective, at this point in our current development, such a consciousness is mandatory; realizing the unity of all things and the oneness inherent in this. In order to do this, we must be able to reach aspects of the Divine. This can be accomplished through using sound, which we have found to be the ultimate evolutionary activator! Once again, science is now validating what our modern mystics have told us—not only that everything is sound, but also that through use of intentionalized sound, we can literally co-create the very fiber of our reality.

We trust that you will enjoy Chakra Frequencies and that through opening to the power of sound to heal and transform, you’ll be changing not only your world, but the world at large.
